Conference
The Conference module enables multiple callers to join the same call, creating virtual meeting rooms for team discussions, client meetings, or training sessions.
Setting It Up
Creating a conference room is straightforward:
-
Name: Give your conference a descriptive name (e.g., "Sales Team Meeting" or "Client Training Room")
-
PIN: Optionally set a 4-digit PIN code that participants must enter to join
- Leave blank for open access
- Use PINs for secure meetings
- Each participant must enter the same PIN
Channel Capacity
To host multiple participants in a conference call, ensure you have enough channels:
- Toll-free numbers include 300 channels per number (usage-based billing applies)
- Local numbers come with 2 channels by default
- Contact support to add more channels to local numbers
Practical Example
This example shows a conference room accessible via multiple methods:
- US office line
- UK office number
- Internal extension
Best Practices
- Use toll-free numbers for large conferences
- Provide multiple access methods for international teams
- Share PIN codes securely with participants
- Consider time zones when scheduling conferences
- Test audio quality before important meetings
Channel Requirements
Each participant in a conference call requires one channel. For example:
- A 5-person conference needs 5 channels
- Toll-free numbers include 300 channels (perfect for large conferences)
- Local numbers (2 channels) are suitable for small team meetings
- Additional channels can be added to local numbers upon request
